art studio, based in New York
Established by the artist Eva Yi Su, BIMO 「笔墨」 Theory is a studio focusing on creating innovative artworks by combining traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting skills with artist's modern mind thoughts, from East to West.
BIMO, literally translated as brush pen and ink, signifies our artist's drive to communicate with the world with the minimal toolset.
Chinese calligraphy and painting share a well-developed aesthetic system established by Chinese literati and artists for over a thousand years. By not aiming to replicate reality, creators instead try to express themselves by capturing the spiritual essence of their creation, exhibiting the quality commonly noted as their characteristics of talent and knowledge.
In a contemporary setting, BIMO strives to inherit and inject fresh energy into such concepts. Our artworks celebrate subjects with added modern appeal and match the theme for any elegant setup.
